Here are some of the projects we have been involved with:
Forest management in Alport
In the Alport Valley to the west of Sheffield large areas of the hillside were planted with conifers for the production of soft wood. In recent years policies have changed, and with the added difficulty in harvesting and transporting the conifers from the area, they are being cleared to allow native species like oak to grow back along the hillsides.

Ring barking
Ring barking is a method of managing areas of woodland where some trees need to be removed to allow other species to flourish. The bark is removed back to the white wood in a band about 40cms wide around a tree. The sap then cannot rise up the tree, which eventually dies and falls. The tree finally disintegrates creating various habitats for numerous woodland insects and animals.
